After the 2018 REACH registration deadline for existing chemicals, European chemical industries have faced several new regulatory challenges. Among these, the REACH Regulation was amended in 2018 to include nanoforms of substances. From 2020, the introduction of a Unique Formula Identifier number and the EU-harmonized Poison Centres Notification for hazardous mixtures became mandatory, along with new requirements for compiling Safety Data Sheets (SDS). While the revised REACH Regulation is expected to be published in the coming years, the restriction on microplastics requires regulatory actions for certain products starting from October 2025. The CLP Regulation has also been updated lately. Among other important requirements, new hazard classes have been introduced for endocrine-disrupting properties and for PBT/vPvB and PMT/vPvM properties. The obligation to report these new hazard classes will apply from May 1, 2025, to new substances placed on the market and to new quantities of substances already on the market. The new hazard classes will need to be assessed, SDS and REACH registration dossiers, where applicable, must be updated. The presentation will provide an overview of the key regulatory milestones in the coming months and years, outlining deadlines, required actions, and involved stakeholders to ensure compliance with REACH and CLP Regulations.

Dopo la scadenza del 2018 per la registrazione REACH delle sostanze esistenti, le industrie chimiche europee hanno dovuto affrontare diverse nuove sfide normative. Il Regolamento REACH è stato aggiornato nel 2018 per includere le nanoforme di sostanze. Dal 2020, l’ ”Unique Formula Identifier” e la notifica PCN (Poison Center Notification) per miscele pericolose sono diventati obbligatori, insieme a nuovi requisiti per la redazione delle Schede di Dati di Sicurezza (SDS). La revisione del Regolamento REACH è prevista nei prossimi anni, mentre la restrizione delle microplastiche richiederà azioni normative a partire da ottobre 2025. Anche il Regolamento CLP è stato recentemente aggiornato. Tra le novità più importanti, sono state introdotte nuove classi di pericolo per le proprietà endocrino-interferenti e per le proprietà PBT/vPvB e PMT/vPvM. L’obbligo di indicare queste nuove classi di pericolo partirà dal 1° maggio 2025 per nuove sostanze e per nuove quantità di sostanze già presenti sul mercato. L’applicazione delle nuove classi di pericolo dovrà essere valutata, le SDS e i dossier di registrazione REACH, dove applicabile, dovranno essere aggiornati.
